Brazilian Studies Association - BRASA

Brand identity and website design for BRASA, a biennial academic conference currently hosted by Tulane University in New Orleans. It is an international and interdisciplinary community of scholars dedicated to advancing Brazilian studies across a wide range of fields, particularly the humanities and social sciences.

Brand Identity/Website/Print/Merch

I collaborated with the BRASA committee to develop a new logo, brand guidelines, and website. The identity elements draw inspiration from the iconic mountain peaks of Guanabara Bay in Rio de Janeiro and incorporate influences from Brazilian modernist painter Rubem Valentim, indigenous textile patterns, architect Oscar Niemeyer, and the classic chacronas tiles found throughout Brazil.

The use of blue, featured in the Brazilian flag, was chosen to avoid the political associations tied to the green and yellow colors, recently appropriated by Brazil's far-right movement.
